Salvador Dali

APOLLINAIRE

***

Dalí’s initial project was to illustrate certain songs by Georges Brassens, but for lack of agreement with the latter, the project reoriented in 1966 to illustrate the Secret Poems of a great disappeared surrealist poet: Guillaume Apollinaire. As a result, many references to the First World War appear in this series of 10 different engravings. Only remaining wink to the original project with Brassens: the «Woman with the Guitar».
